　　　※第５文型。Cは形容詞がくることが多い。

　　★make oneself understood　　　
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　「自分の言うことを相手に理解してもらう、わからせる」

６．Some women appear really pretty when they come out of
　　a beauty parlor.

　　★appear (to be) C　　「Cのように見える、Cであるようだ」
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　（Cは形容詞・名詞）

　　※解答はbeautihul, attractiveでも可。

７．Many cars start moving even befor the traffic light turn green.　

　　★turn C　　「Cになる、変わる」

　　　　turn green 　　「（信号が）青になる」

８．The fever stayed high for more than two days.

　　★stay C　　「Cのままである」

　　　※last　　（自動詞）　「続く」（CやAをとらない）
　　　　 continue　　（自動詞）　「続ける」（CやAをとらない）
　　　　 continue C　　　「引き続きCである」
　　　　 continue A　　　「Aを続ける」

　　　「高いままである」の意味のときはstayを使い、continueは不可。
